I want to thank all of you for letting the “little sisters” – The VanZandt Girls - attend your reunion. Thank you for making me feel like a 15 year old again – you will always be 17 to me. Thank all of you for the leadership and example you set then and now, from academics to all campus activities. Our class looked up to yours for everything. You set the standard. Thank you for your friendship with my brother-in-law, P.G. Bradford. He loved you all so much! As I told many, it took 3 people to have as much fun at the reunion as he would have had. I enjoyed meeting those I did not know, too. ‘Make new friends and keep the old; one is silver and the other gold!” (The Girl Scout reunion on Saturday morning was so sweet, too!) It was also fun spending time with “my other sister”, Barbara Laird. Bob Shivers, your speech was great! You described it best. It really did not matter about money or looks or status….what did matter was being nice and mannerly and happy. I recently attended a lecture by your classmate, Collins Hemingway. He wrote an excellent book called “What Happy Companies Know”. I wonder if he might have learned some of these concepts at Central. Betty, I loved your dramatic reading….black or white, we are all part of a wonderful legacy - I am pleased to know all of you – and am happy about the progress we have made in that regard. I would love to see honor given to Janice Williams (the first black cheerleader) and to Cora Mercer, (the first black High-Stepper) in the national museum – it would be great for them to donate their uniforms for that purpose. In a high school culture, those were huge milestones. Has anyone thought of that possibility? I remember Life Magazine had a picture of Cora and a story about that in their 1967 issue on Central. Congratulations on all your professional accomplishments, but most of all on the personal ones – being happy is our greatest achievement. You all seemed to be just that – happy. Happy Days recalled. We were good folks – so glad I went to our school. We were special. There was a sweet, sweet sprit in that place called Little Rock Central High. In the end, that is all that matters – that is what is remembered. Angela VanZandt Melanie VanZandt’s little sister P.G. Bradford’s sister-in-law LRCHS Class of 1970 |

| In my opinion, the best reunion ever. I thought I would never see those in the class of 1968 again. My wife loves the reunion as well. She's a LR McClelland grad and sings our alma mater! Good job reunion committee. Let's do it again in five! |

| We opened govt. class here at Ronald Reagan High today with the images from the LRCH web site and as the images of that beautiful school played across the screen, I shared with them the emotions of the weekend. To all of those who worked so hard...thanks from a greatful classmate. |

| Unfortunately, because of other committments, I will not be able to mingle with my classmates and am sorely disappointed. Enjoy and have enough fun for me! I will be in Little Rock Thanksgiving weekend. |
